Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar with its meaning. Many people believe that it's an island located to the west of Montreal However, it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the cities in Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often cited, however her short visit to the West Island did not last long. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to pursue a career as an actress however, after a rapid growth spurt her partners could no longer dance along with her. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. The moment I outgrew any male partner, I stopped. Brugel was one of many former dancers who turned into acting. Her high school teacher school encouraged her to take the next step. She was recommended by a teacher to get a role for school's annual production. After a few auditions her options, she was eventually the leading lady in Anne of Green Gables. This led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been involved in more than 60 shows, smaller and large. Most notable was when she landed the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the sole Canadian of the Season 1 cast of the show and seen only occasionally, was the only Canadian.
